What do I need to bring?
We provide a list
of gear that you will want for the trip.
Are there any extra
costs?
Everything is included except gratuities
for the guides. (See question 5)
What kind of physical
shape do I need to be in?
The activities that you will be doing
are physically demanding. You can expect to be active
for 4 - 6 hours each day. We will take frequent rest
breaks and we will have a lot of high energy snacks and
water
to keep energy levels high.
Will I be required
to sign a liability wavier?
Yes, our insurance carrier requires
that we get a signed copy of our wavier form from each
client. Our guide partners may also require a signed copy
from you for their activity as well.
Should I tip our
guides?
This may be the only extra
cost that you should consider. The general rule of thumb
is 10-20%
for the activities guide for service that meets or
exceeds your expectations. For the activities that we offer
that
is $10 -$20 per activity. This is not included in
the package price because we feel that it is important
for clients
to recognize and reward the guides for exceptional service.
What kind of experience
do these trips require?
Virtually none! The guides can help each
participant learn as much about the activity they are leading
as you are willing to absorb. It
may be helpful if you have camped outdoors and slept in a sleeping
bag.
Who will be on the trip?
People that share an interest in outdoor activities. Energetic, adventurous
folks that have chosen Maine as a destination for their next vacation.
Will there be time for shopping and
sightseeing?
There will be occasional stops along the way at roadside stores, but there
is very little time for shopping as a focus. We will certainly be stopping
often for sightseeing. Maine has a lot of beautiful scenic overviews and
we will stop as often as you'd like.
Can I
fish?
There is typically time in the afternoon and early evening to wet a line. A
non-resident fishing license is required and may be purchased at many stores
along our route.
Do
you have vegetarian and or vegan meals?
Absolutely, and we will work hard to accommodate any other special dietary
requirements.
How many people
will there be on the trip?
Typical group size is eight people. The maximum capacity is 12.
What if I need to cancel the trip?
Deposits are 90% refundable up to 60 days prior to your trip. Rescheduling
is always an option. Rescheduling can be in the same calendar year if the time
is available, or it can be arranged for a future date.
Do trips
ever get cancelled?
On the rare occasions when we must cancel a trip, all payments received
to date will be refunded, which constitutes full settlement. If a trip
is cancelled
within 45 days of departure due to low enrollment, you will receive a full
refund and a trip of equal value. If you should cancel a trip within
45 days
of departure because of natural disaster or civil unrest, you will receive
a full refund. We are not responsible for expenses incurred in preparation
for any cancelled trips, such as airline tickets.
Will there be a place to store luggage while I am on
the trip?
Yes, at our base and rendezvous point in Windham you can store luggage during
the trip.
