Time
to leave the coast and head to Maine's interior,
Millinocket, the gateway to the North Maine
Woods. Enjoy the transition as we pass through
blueberry barrens, rolling farms, and Main's vast
timberlands. We will camp along a quite lake
shore at Big Moose Campground. There will be
time for a dip in the lake or exploring the woods

After a hearty breakfast, set off
for whitewater
rafting on the Penobscot River. A Maine certified whitewater guide will
lead us through the rapids, and supply us with a riverside lunch. Always
a rush to crash through the waves in a whitewater raft! At night
we return to our lakeside campsite for a delicious camp meal.
During the evening it will be nice to relax by the fire, reflect on the
day's adventure, and think about tomorrow's fun. It will be an early wake-up,
as we eat breakfast and make a short drive into Baxter State Park. At over
200,000 acres, the park is a wonderland for the nature lover. The hiking
is spectacular! Get up close and personal with Maine's highest mountain,
Katahdin. After a day of hiking it
will be time to travel south, back to our base in Windham.
